Daily Programme

In order to provide our tamariki with clear boundaries and expectations, Ako Tahi follows a daily programme ensuring all of our tamariki feel a safe and secure.

A Day at Ako Tahi

8:45am - 9:30am // Welcome and free play
A time where our whanau comes together to start the day with a feeling of connection.

9:30am - 9:40am // Gathering time
A time for everyone to regulate their energy and be guided in their transition to kai time then play

9:40am - 10:30am // Morning kai time
A time where children fuel up for a morning of play an opportunity to socialise with peers and kaiako before transitioning back int their play after morning routines are done.

10:30am -10.45am // Toileting
A routine toileting time where each child is offered the toilet or a nappy change, with as little disruption to play as possible. Different strategies are used for individuals who are toilet training or require more assistance.

10:45am - 11:45am // Child led play

11:45am - 12:00pm // Gathering time prior to Lunch
A time to readjust and regulate back into a calmer time. This gathering is a time
to share the stories, sing, learn about the current interest a little more while lunch
is being prepared.

12:00pm - 1:00pm // Kai time
A time to gather together to eat lunch learning about healthy food choices and talking with peer and kaiako. We do not rush this time as we recognize children eat at different paces.  Upon completion of lunch, children will be offered a toilet stop before being transitioned to bed or child led play.

12:30pm - 2:30pm // Child led play
With some intentional teaching moments.

2:15pm - 2:30pm // Clean Up
Time to learn how to respect our learning environment, children are supported to help clean their learning space and prepare for the end of the day

2:30pm - 2:45pm // End of day
A flexible time prior to being picked up, this could involve a Kai time, a gathering time or a group time outside in the summer as the transition to home begins.
